Motifs and designs, be it on the walls of a palace or a modest tribal hut can now be worn in scarves.
The tradition of Madhubani paintings was kept alive through centuries by the women of Madhubani and other areas of Mithila, in Bihar. The paintings were done on the walls of mud huts and depicted Hindu religious motifs. Characterized by line drawings filled in with bright colors these paintings are now done on handmade paper, cloth, and canvas. The colors used are natural and derived from flowers, vegetables, turmeric, and lamp black.
