Scarf Crepe - Birds Warli

Motifs and designs, be it on the walls of a palace or a modest tribal hut can now be worn in scarves.

The Warlis are an indigenous tribe from the Maharashtra-Gujarat border. Warli paintings are mostly made by women for special occasions such as weddings or harvests. Made on the mud walls of their huts, the scenes portray rural life, festivals, and dances, trees, and animals. The Warli use only white - a mixture of rice paste, water, and gum for their paintings. Bamboo sticks chewed at the end are used as paintbrushes.
