Gulmohar, or Krishnachura, is one of the most spectacular flowering trees of the tropics—magical both from afar and up close. Each bloom is an artist’s delight. The gulmohars here are painted in the Rajasthani Miniature style, which emerged in the 16th century when two Persian master artists accompanied Mughal emperor Humayun back from exile. Under their influence, Persian miniature techniques merged with Indian motifs, giving rise to the distinctive School of Miniature Paintings.
