Most of Mumbai’s Art Deco architectural icons have Minton floors. In 1922, a family based out of Uran and set out to compete with the UK-based Minton & Co., whose popular patterned clay tiles were shipped to colonies all the way from Britain. Members of the family traveled to England and learned how to use coloured cement. They started manufacturing affordable patterned alternatives to the imported tiles - in India. A map of undivided India was stamped on the back of each and every tile.
Timeless in its appeal a beautiful detail has been framed and styled to be worn as earrings.
