Motifs and designs, be it on the walls of a palace or a modest tribal hut can now be worn in scarves.
Arjun Pal, founder of Karauli in the 14th century, had built the original city palace. What remains today was later added on by Raja Gopal Singh in the 18th century. The City Palace of Karauli is grand both inside and outside. Its exquisitely painted walls and ceilings and in places the door make it one of the most beautiful yet less known palaces of eastern Rajasthan. Seen on this scarf is a painted panel from a ceiling.
This silk and cotton blended scarf was handwoven by the weavers of Chanderi.
